Practice what you preach, practice what you preach and lastly practice what you preach! I cannot say it enough. In the fitness industry this couldn’t be more true. As I try to grow my business and brand I get bombarded constantly with offers to push gimmacky products and fad workouts on my clients, friends and family. My clients, friends & family mean the world to me. Pushing these things on them would’t go along with my core belief system, and I wouldn’t be “practicing what I preach”, to them all. When I became a professional personal trainer and health educator I really took PWYP to my heart. Realizing the power that I now had in my hands to influence my loved ones, clients and even strangers was mind blowing. When I tell people what I do for a living I am instantly the expert and possibly a source of inspiration to the ones around me. Honestly I do not always practice what I preach! I don’t always drink my body weight in water, exercise daily, eat 6 meals a day, avoid sweets, write positive affirmations, get 8 hours of sleep per night and so on. I am human just like everyone else, I make mistakes and I fall off the wagon. When I do fall off I have to look at myself in the mirror and remember what my core values are. Deep down I am a hardworking, loving, and ambitious person.
It doesn’t matter what profession you are in, what degree you hold, how much money you make or how many ironman you have done! You have a duty to yourself to be true to who you are. Everyday everyone of us is selling a product, you may not realize it, but you’re the product. By “practicing what you preach” you are putting out the most authentic and truthful product you can. You will know deep down inside that what people are seeing in front of them is true and real.
2015 is still in it’s infancy make the choice now to be the most authentic person you can possibly be. Make 2015 the year of honing in and sharpening your inner star player.
