Today is July 14th, 2014! It is a great time in history to be alive, we have many great things going on in American and in the world abroad. In the US we are seeing a major shift in the way we look at marijuana and its usage, each day more and more states are beginning to allow same sex marriage, and technology just keeps advancing and making our lives easer. Overseas the World Cup has just ended, back to regular life. The world seems more connected now then ever all thanks to a ball. Today we can get more done, connect with more people, and have more choices for just about anything. This has led us to believe that we always need to be doing something, just because we have so many options of what to do. Well I think we need to take our foots off the gas, move over to the slow lane and just be in the moment.
This last month has been an eye opening one for me, my business has slowed down dramatically. This has left me with more free time then I know what to do with. My first instinct was to panic and do everything in my power to get new business and build more income. This led to me stressing and having a few major freak outs. Once I was able to calm myself down and look at my situation objectively I realized something!! You don’t always need to be moving forward. People in the business world seem to think that if you are not moving forward then you are moving backwards. I do not agree with that at all. I now believe that sometimes sitting still and letting things just be, is the best thing to do. I don’t see my business slowing down as a bad thing, I see it as a time to take care of myself and spend sometime relaxing and recharging.
Slowing down and taking a break is a good thing for everyone. If you are an athlete training for a big event, a business owner pushing to grow your business or just a busy parent trying to give everything to your family, don’t forget to take a break. Mental & physical burnout can happen to all of us. When it does happen don’t fight it, embrace it. Accept that you are burnt out and take it easy. The world will not end because you are spending extra reading your favorite book, playing more video games or just doing nothing. Be still, be calm, be in the moment.
