Its 7am on a Saturday morning, the sun is shining, there’s no school, and you have no job. No you aren’t a student or unemployed you’re 10 years old with no responsibilities, no place to be and no schedule or agenda. Remember how great it was? Your weekends were yours, basically to do what made you happy. Can you remember what some of those activities were that brought a smile to your face? Chances are you do, and if you did some of those things today they would bring back that genuine smile you had as a child. For me one thing that I loved, was being outside in the forest running and just being in nature. When I feel myself becoming depressed, down, or overworked I go out to nature and just be.
Sadly as we age our schedules become more and more hectic! Work meetings, taking care of the kids, mortgage payments, and whatever else you may do! Our lives become routine! We no longer just go and play just for the sake of playing. We rarely just run to run or swim to swim. Everything we do seems to have some purpose or goal. As a child we just did things because they made us happy. So today I challenge you to leave your phone at home for 1 hour, take off your watch, leave your wallet at home and just go do something that you loved as a child. Paint a picture, roll around in the grass, you can even go play in the mud if you want. Let the little boy or girl you once were come out and play again. Don’t ever think you are too old or mature to be silly and have fun!
